![]() ![]() I couldn't find any micro ATX cases, that were not towers, that included USB 2.0 ports, and who even uses DVDs anymore? Most laptops don't even come with them, because most content is on flash memory or digital downloads. Like I said, if EVGA were to have actually attempted a micro ATX build with this motherboard, they would have run into this problem. Whatever drivers are required should be on the CD that comes with the board, or at the very least, on the EVGA website. This is actually the first time I ever had a problem installing windows. Once windows is installed, the problem is no longer present. I didn't go out and buy an expansion card to even try to see if it would work. Yes, there are USB 2.0 headers, but that requires additional hardware - my case does not have any USB 2.0 ports. I'm not sure if you noticed, but the problem was solved. I will probably try both ways, and I will post back my results of either way, or both work, to help others in the future.Ĥx from Intel X299 PCH – 4x internal via 2 FP headersSupports transfer speeds up to 480 Mbps with full backwards This a major inconvenience, and requires multiple hacks to install windows, which is distributed on a USB stick - I'm not sure you can even buy a DVD. Either that, or I could probably get a PCI-e USB 2.0 adapter at Fry's. I do also happen to have an internal SATA DVD burner that I was hanging on to that I can hook up to the motherboard, temporarily, to install windows from. My laptop doesn't have a burner, but my wife has one. EVGA should have tried to put together a micro system, found out that this problem exists, and simply put 1 USB 2.0 port on the board. An internal DVD player really isn't that great of an option, as most micro ATX cases don't have 5 1/2" bays, and the ones that do are no smaller than an ATX case, which kinds defeats the purpose of the micro ATX in the first place. ![]() I don't think an external cd reader would work either, as I would be plugging into the same port. I appreciate the help, but I really wish people would actually read the entire post first, before replying. I do not have any USB 2.0 ports, they are ALL 3.0., which is what the problem seems to be and I did use the Media creation tool. He should have plenty of ports so I am at a loss for his explanation in post 1. This Process creates the Install on the USB and it is not downloading an ISO make sure you plug this in one of the two upper USB Ports on the I/O Rear Panel (The left most Ports) ![]() Use the Media Creation Tool to create a USB OS Based Install and make sure it is at least an 8GB USB Thumb Drive. Here's what I have, and everything is brand new, so no previous windows installĮVGA Geforce 8400 (had to buy something cheap till my 2080Ti's arrive) Is there another set of drivers that may be missing? With apparently no way to install windows from a USB, what can I do? I can't be the only one with this problem that isn't fixed by installing the drivers. I have tried re-running the media creation tool, and downloading the ISO in case it was corrupted. I do not have USB 2.0 ports to plug the stick into, and I have tried downloading the Intel RST drivers from the CD that came with the board, the EVGA download section, and Intel directly, with no success on getting past that error. I looked everywhere, ans I find that there are a couple of things that could be wrong, but most likely it seems that the windows installation does not have the proper USB drivers. When trying to install I get the error "A Media Driver Your Computer Needs is Missing". I'm trying to install a clean version of windows on the new PC. Edit: An external USB DVD drive did work to complete the install, although it was pretty slow. ![]()
